A market town located close to the River Avon, Rugby is the second largest town in Warwickshire with a population of 70,628 in 2011.
The town is close to a number of major roads including the M6, M1, M45 and A45. Rugby is 183 miles north of London, 30 miles east of Birmingham and 11 miles east of Coventry. Rugby railway station is part of the West Coast Line and has been in operation since 1885, while the nearest airports are Coventry and Birmingham.
Rugby is home to a number of engineering operations such as the GEC and AEI. The town is also an important area for the cement making industry.
