Between the two train stations in Wakefield town centre numerous railway lines and services take passengers in all directions, to some of the furthest away points in the country. The town itself lies in between the two major Yorkshire cities of Leeds to the north and Sheffield to the south, connected by the M1 motorway to which Wakefield has easy access via the A638 and the A642. Due west of Wakefield, along the M62, lie Huddersfield, Rochdale and Manchester, and heading east the same motorway hits the east coast of England at Hull.
