Guildhall was originally known as the Hunter Barr building, designed by David Barclay with construction spanning over the course of 4 years from 1899 to 1903. Guildhall is Grade B listed, and as such when it was extensively redeveloped in 1986, the traditional red sandstone façade was retained.
